When it comes to running, Taylor Swift may prefer Drake and Future’s “Jumpman,” but finding the motivation to make it at least a mile can sometimes require a little extra “oomph.” More than an upbeat track, there’s something about hearing the word “run” while you’re pounding the pavement; it makes it that much harder to give up even if you’re feeling tired.

Whether it’s about running from devils, running as a metaphor for strength or running the world, here are the best songs about running to help you make it all the way to the end.

“Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads

Talking Heads don’t mention running in the song’s title, but it does come up in the chorus. “Better run run run run run run run away,” David Byrne sings.

“Ready to Run” by The Dixie Chicks

“Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé 

“Running with the Devil” by Van Halen

“Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + the Machine

The second song on this list without “run” in the title, Florence instead encourages running on the chorus: “Run fast for your mother/ Run fast for your father/ Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers.”
