Roger Waters and Pink Floyd became one of the biggest and most influential rock bands in history thanks to the massive success of album The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Dark Side of the Moon spent fifteen consecutive years on the Billboard charts. The Wall, which was released in 1979, has sold more than 23 million units.
Close to forty years after its release, Waters presents his documentary “Roger Waters The Wall.” The documentary follows Waters personal journey while weaving tour footage of the recent cinematic concert of the same name.
The rock legend spoke to CBS This Morning on Sept. 16 about the reason behind making the film, “I started touring 10, 15 years ago, and I did a number of solo tours, and I’ve done a tour that was based on ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ … and thought well, let me revisit ‘The Wall.'”

Waters also spoke about the theatrical show’s set designer, Mark Fisher, who’s designed Pink Floyd’s sets for decades. The tour in the film wasn’t meant to recreate what they did in the late seventies, Roger Waters described his show as a “personal narrative” with a larger message.
“I said, ‘We have to make this a more general statement about the state of the world and the need people have to cooperate with one another beyond the barriers of faith or politics … whatever those barriers might be,” he explained.
