Jaden Smith has the rich kid blues — at least on his new track “Melancholy.”
A few days after dropping the video for “Fast,” Smith is back at sharing music, this time in the form of a freestyle over Pink Floyd‘s gorgeous cut “Breathe” from Dark Side of the Moon.

If one of the “Super Rich Kids” in Frank Ocean‘s Channel Orange song gave his perspective, it would probably sound like “Melancholy.” On the track, Smith tries to prove that he’s not just the child of one of the more likable rapper/actor combos of all time and takes digs at his film career — “I bet you thought that you would body this / You’re messing up a classic, how you did with The Karate Kid.”
Like on “Fast,” he also rails against school.
“I hide behind my hate because I wish I had your confidence,” he raps. “But understand my only option is/ To go to school and try to be friends with all these obnoxious kids/ I don’t hate you/ I’m jealous of how you got to live.”
