Pink Floyd‘s David Gilmour has remained off the stage for four years. That is, until this past weekend.
According to NME, Gilmour made a rare guest appearance during Bombay Bicycle Club‘s performance in London on Saturday (Dec. 13). The last concert to take place at London’s Earls Court Arena before the venue is demolished, Gilmour surprised the audience when he first appeared to play lap steel guitar to Bombay Bicycle Club’s “Rinse Me Down.”

“This man gave me my first guitar and was one of the first people to play this venue and by my count has played here more than 27 times,” Bombay Bicycle Club’s Jamie MacColl said while introducing Gilmour to the stage.
Afterward, Gilmour treated the crowd to a moving performance of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”
While Pink Floyd have released what they’ve called their final album earlier this year, in a previous interview with Billboard, drummer Nick Mason mentioned that he’s been working on a Pink Floyd video archival project, but there are lots of eras that lack footage.
“Our problem is we go back so far to the point where no one recorded things; maybe there’s some Super 8 stuff and a few early television appearances and things like that, which are fun,” he said. “The biggest problem is when we were touring in the ’70s, we never filmed or recorded the show, which would have been really nice now to have a look at those original Dark Side shows. So there’s a funny old mix of stuff, but I think there’s enough to do something really entertaining, eventually, when there’s time to work on it.”
Pink Floyd’s The Endless River is out now.
