Next Tuesday, Pink Floyd will release their first album in two decades — and on their latest song, “Allons-y (1),” it sounds like they’re picking up right where they left off.
The track, which follows up last month’s David Gilmour-fronted “Louder Than Words,” sounds like classic Pink Floyd. It’s more straightforward than anything on their seminal albums Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall but it has the same spacey feel of the instrumentals in both of those albums, specifically when it comes to the morose guitar riffs that lead over the soft synths and gentle percussion.

The classic sound is probably in part due to the fact that the band approached the making of this album similar to recording sessions in the past — and they started it back around the time they recorded their 1993 album, The Division Bell.
“We set up, just like the old days, so the three of us could play along with each other for the love of it, and see what came out of it,” David Gilmour said in the teaser for their new album, The Endless River. “Out of that, this album grew, as well as The Division Bell.”
The Endless River is out Nov. 10.
